While the media has been covering the Bengals’ unexpected march to the Super Bowl, expectations have been high on this Rams team all season. Following a slightly underwhelming 2020 season, Sean McVay and the rest of the team’s staff realized it needed a more deadly QB to win that elusive Super Bowl. That’s why the team decided to go all-in and trade away starting quarterback Jared Goff, along with two first-round draft picks and a third-round pick, for 12-year signal-caller Matthew Stafford. 

Less than a year later, Stafford is coming off a year in which he posted 41 touchdowns and 4,886 passing yards while completing more than 67% of his passes. That was enough to lead the Los Angeles Rams to a 12-5 record. 

The defense of the Rams is packed with stars, starting with three-time defensive player of the year, Aaron Donald, who finished the regular season with 12.5 sacks. There is also All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and talented linebacker Von Miller. 

On the offense, wide receiver Cooper Kupp had one of the best seasons in NFL history, finishing the regular season with 1,946 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 145 receptions. While newcomer and supposed ‘problem child’ Odell Beckham Jr. came into his own towards the end of the year and played a massive role in Los Angeles’ postseason run. 

This all-star cast helped the team overcome the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the San Francisco 49ers to reach the biggest game in the US.

Van Jefferson has had to play second fiddle all season to either Cooper Kupp, Odell Beckham, or Robert Woods before his season-ending injury.
