The English Premier League is back! The first matchday of the new season has just finished, and it did not disappoint, with 34 goals being scored across the first ten games.
Manchester United thrashed rivals Leeds 5-1. Title challengers Liverpool and Chelsea cruised as they both picked up 3-0 wins. Underdogs Brentford beat Arsenal 2-0 in their first top-flight game since 1947. And Tottenham edged defending league champions Manchester City with a 1-0 win over the favorites to win it again this year.

Favorites To Win The League
- Manchester City (-150)
- Chelsea (+500)
- Liverpool (+500)
- Manchester United (+750)
Manchester City is the clear favorite to win the title again, and it is hardly surprising. After winning the Premier League by 12 points and reaching the final of the Champions League last season. They have further bolstered this ridiculous squad with the £100 million addition of Aston Villa and England superstar Jack Grealish. They are in talks of bringing in Tottenham Striker Harry Kane, which would make them seem pretty unstoppable.
Chelsea goes into the season on a high after beating Man City to lift the Champions League at the end of May this year. Manager Thomas Tuchel has come in and transformed the side into one that can grind out results. And with it being a young squad, they are only going to get better going into the new year. Not to mention the addition of Belgium Striker Romelu Lukaku for £97 million, filling that gap they missed last season of a clinical finisher.
While Liverpool is looking forward to the new season, welcoming back Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez, who were sidelined for the majority of last season through injuries. The team is looking to build on an underwhelming season last year, riddled with injuries that upset the squad’s rhythm. The only changes in the squad are the addition of centre-back Ibrahima Konate and the departure of the crucial Georginio Wijnaldum to PSG. This hole must be filled before the transfer window closes.
Manchester United will look to one-up last season’s second-place finish. The additions of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane for over £100 million between the two show they mean business this year, strengthening two of their weakest positions from last year in right-wing and centre-back.
Chelsea is BetMGM’s most popular bet of these four, with 29% of wagers going on Chelsea to win. Man United is second with 22%, Liverpool third with 12%, and Man City at just 7% due to the lower odds. Outsiders Arsenal has 10% of bets with odds at +5000 to win, although this looks very unlikely.

Favorites To Finish In The Top 4
- Manchester City (-2000)
- Chelsea (-450)
- Liverpool (-450)
- Manchester United (-350)
- Arsenal (+450)
- Leicester City (+450)
- Tottenham (+450)
It is unanimous that Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man United are going to finish as the top four in the league based on predictions.
There could be some good money to be made betting on one of the underdogs, with Leicester looking the strongest of these sides after beating Man City to win the Community Shield the other week. Tottenham could also be a good shout, but you might want to wait to see if Kane stays or goes first.

Favorites To Finish In The Top 10
- Tottenham (-700)
- Leicester City (-700)
- Arsenal (-500)
- Everton (-175)
- West Ham (-145)
- Leeds (-135)
Besides Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man United, whose odds would be too low even to bother betting on, there are a couple of good value bets for teams to finish in the top ten.
Everton looks to be of value. They just need to build on last season’s early good form and become more consistent. New manager Rafael Benitez will be looking to do this and has shown signs by bringing in players, adding depth to the squad.
West Ham looks to be the best value after finishing sixth last season and qualifying for the Europa League. They have not lost any crucial players, so they should likely stay in the top ten.

Favorites To Be Relegated
- Norwich City (-110)
- Watford (+100)
- Brentford (+110)
- Crystal Palace (+175)
- Burnley (+225)
- Newcastle (+275)
- Southampton (+400)
As usual, the three teams that have just been promoted to the league, Norwich, Watford, and Brentford, are favorites to go straight back down. It is unlikely that all three will go down, but one or two of them will be based on previous seasons.
Southampton looks to be a good value for this bet after losing key players Danny Ings and Jannik Vestergaard to Aston Villa and Leicester. With Crystal Palace also looking good value with new manager Patrick Vieira very unproven as a manager with other management changes at the club potentially unsettling Palace.

Favorites To Be The Top Goalscorer In The League
- Harry Kane (+300)
- Mohamed Salah (+300)
- Timo Werner (+1600)
- Diogo Jota (+1800)
- Raheem Sterling (+1800)
- Sadio Mane (+1800)
- Bruno Fernandes (+2000)
- Gabriel Jesus (+2000)
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (+2000)
Harry Kane and Mo Salah are obvious favorites, with the pair winning five of the last six golden boots. With Kane winning the award last year, Salah will be looking for redemption to win it back after he was one goal off Kane. If Kane does move to City, the creative players they have could provide him with a record number of goals.
Man United’s Bruno Fernandes has started off the campaign in the best shape, scoring a hat-trick on the opening day.
