July has been a great month for New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, as the states have seen a substantial increase in poker revenue from June. Going off past figures, July is typically a poor month with regards to US online poker revenue. However, the month has instead produced more positive news this year.
It’s possible that many other US states also had a great month this year. However, Nevada does not publish their information to the public. Michigan also publish their poker growth and iGaming revenue together, so we are unable to see if this state’s poker revenue increased or not. The iGaming industry has also thrived over July for New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
Impact Of The Pandemic
Despite these positive numbers, the online poker market is still trying to reach numbers from July 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic hitting the world hard last year, all land-based casinos were forced to close their doors temporarily. This lockdown meant that the online poker market was thriving, but since then, casinos have reopened, and online numbers have been unable to teach those levels again.

Despite Pennsylvania’s online poker sites seeing a decrease in profits in July, the introduction of WSOP.com via Harrah’s Philadelphia brought overall revenues up from the low of June. However, the opposite of this took place for iGaming, as revenues dropped slightly in July but increased over the year. iGaming tables decreased 12.2%, but slots saw a rise of 4.6%.
Sports betting was also down as July is often quiet in the world of sports, seeing a 28% handle decrease and a 42% revenue decrease. Although, year-on-year revenue has improved by over 143%, proving not all is bad in Pennsylvania in July.

Adjusted gross receipts came close to recovering the significant 25.7% dip in June, with a 25.6% increase in July. However, that month, state tax payments rebounded nicely with a 24.5% increase to over $17 million, after the 24.3% drop between May and June.
