Men’s March Madness Tournament Predictions
With online sports betting being hotter than ever right now and being legal in many states around the US. There is no better time than now to get in on the action!
With one of the most historic weekends in March Madness history now in the past, it’s time to make some predictions for the remainder of the tournament.
WEST
1. GONZAGA VS. 5. CREIGHTON – PICK – GONZAGA
6. USC vs. 7. OREGON – PICK – OREGON
For the teams remaining in the West region, it seems like a safe team to back or lay a bet on would be the Gonzaga Bulldogs. They are coming off a massive win versus a competitive Oklahoma team, but even in times during the game when the Sooners got hot, Gonzaga never lost control/momentum of the game. This Bulldogs team seems destined for glory.
EAST
1. MICHIGAN VS. 4. FLORIDA ST – PICK – FLORIDA ST.
2. ALABAMA VS. 11. UCLA – PICK – ALABAMA
Michigan has done a tremendous job at making up for the loss of Isaiah Livers. Still, they will have trouble going up against a big, athletic, and talented Florida St. team that has dominated competition all tournament long. UCLA has had an inspiring run in this year’s March Madness tournament, however as good as BYU and Abilene Christian are, they are no Alabama.
The East region will likely come down to a Florida St. vs. Alabama matchup, in which we will likely see Florida State’s length, athleticism, and raw power be too much for the Crimson Tide.
SOUTH
1. BAYLOR VS. 5. VILLANOVA – PICK – BAYLOR
3. ARKANSAS VS. 15. ORAL ROBERTS – PICK – ORAL ROBERTS
Villanova has had impressive outings, and Jay Wright has more than proven his value as a top-tier coach. But Baylor has easily been one of the country’s best teams and is just starting to hit its stride. Arkansas is a very well-coached and disciplined team, but there’s something about this Oral Roberts squad that makes it tough to bet against.
Baylor vs. Oral Roberts in the Elite 8 would be exciting to say the least, but we would likely see an elite Bears team finally put an end to this year’s Cinderella team, Oral Roberts.
MIDWEST
8. LOYOLA CHICAGO VS. 12. OREGON ST. – PICK – LOYOLA
2. HOUSTON VS. 11. SYRACUSE – PICK – SYRACUSE
The Loyola vs. Oregon St. matchup should be a fun game as the Beavers have been impressive to say the least, but Loyola seems like legit title contenders.
To bet against Syracuse any more in this tournament seems foolhardy, especially when you consider the fact they are lining up against a very beatable Cougars team.
An Elite 8 matchup of Loyola vs. Syracuse will see Buddy (and Jim) Boeheim’s run come to an end, and Sister Jean leads her Loyola team into the Final Four. DO NOT bet against Sister Jean.
FINAL FOUR
GONZAGA VS. FLORIDA ST.
As good as Florida St. is, if they get this far, they will have far surpassed expectations, but this year belongs to the Zags. Expect Gonzaga to punch their ticket to the championship game.
BAYLOR VS. LOYOLA CHICAGO
A Baylor vs. Loyola game sounds too good to be true, but in what will surely be a challenging game to predict, don’t be surprised to see Loyola’s stingy defense slow down the Bears.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
GONZAGA VS. LOYOLA CHICAGO
Our prediction to cut down the nets come April 5th is Gonzaga, as we expect them to be in a tough matchup with a Loyola team that carries the top defense in the country.
Gonzaga carries the greatest odds amongst online sportsbooks to finish the job, and for a good reason. While there is tough competition in their path, they seem to demolish their opponent’s momentum instantly and are tremendously disciplined on both ends of the court.
The Zags are on pace to become the first team since Bobby Knight’s 1976 Hoosier team finished with a perfect season as NCAA Tournament Champions.
And at this point, they feel like the safest team to wager on.
