About Scores Casino
Scores Casino is a New-Jersey online casino that is part of the Scores brand that operates a chain of high-end gentlemen’s clubs in more than have a dozen states in America, with its flagship club in New-York City, and until recently, in the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City. However Scores shut down in 2017 along with the Taj Mahal that was bought by Hard Rock International. For now the Hard Rock’s group plans regarding the reopening of the club are unknown.
In 2017, Scores Casino went online as a skin for Pala New Jersey Online Casino, which is operated by Pala Interactive (part of the group that owns and operates the Pala Casino Spa and Resort in California).
The Pala NJ online casino was launched in November 2014 under the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa Internet gaming license, and in July 17th Scores Casino launched as a skin under Pala NJ. So basically, this is another Pala NJ brand that operates under the Borgata license.
In addition to scorescasino.com, the Borgata license currently has several brands operating under it, including PlayMGM.com, Borgatacasino.com, Borgatapoker.com, nj.partypoker.com, palacasino.com, palapoker.com and palabingousa.com.
Although pretty similar to Pala for obvious reasons, Scores Casino took an offering that could have been vanilla, and through their own branding and a targeted strategy created a very unique online casino and casino app that actually impressed us compared to other casino apps and casino websites in the US online casino marketplace.
Scores Casino App and website
Scores uses in both its online website and casino app the Pala Casino technical infrastructure and platform.
So Scores Casino mobile app, as well as online website are based on a strong, proven and tested software that is the proprietary software designed and used by the Pala NJ Casinos. This is good news, as there are a lot of features, games and it provides an overall rich and impressive user experience.
The Scores Casino design is very straight-forward, where everything is easy to find, intuitive and loads quickly (we were impressed with that, and it is probably due to Scores Casino being somewhat plain, as loading times for more robust sites with tons of graphics, buttons, and features sometimes take long to load).
The top menu bar in black is good and provides you with the menu options. The “How to Play” section was a bit dull, as it only gave very brief steps for signing up, depositing and playing now. More information about the games would have been good to have, as well as possibly some guidance on other site features and options. There is a pretty helpful glossary, but it’s placed under the “Casino Games” menu for some reason.
The Scores Casino “Rewards” section is great, and provides a lot of information about the Scores Casino VIP Program. This includes a table of points/deposit needed for game categories, events, milestones, rewards and more across the loyalty levels. And, there was also the monthly status points needed for Scores Casino loyalty levels. We really wished to see such important information displayed so clearly in other online casino apps. So Scores really scores on the Rewards section.
The Scores Casino “Promotions” section has a lot of information about the different promotions on offer, however there was too much clicking to go through in order to find information. Instead of having all the different promotions on less pages (possibly in smaller tiles or images), you need to drill down through pages that look pretty empty in order to find info. Good news being, that once you find it, there is a lot of good information there on the Scores Casino Promotions.
The slider below the top menu provides random images, most which looks like promotional materials such as a video which features people in a land-based casino, and no actual online game footage from the Scores Casino site or app. In addition a few register-now landing pages which seemed to be thrown in there. There were a few sets of promotions featuring also, and we would have used this prime piece of real estate on the site to provide more valuable information about promotions, new games, features, etc.
The games at Scores Casino game section, which starts underneath the slider the bottom of the page can be browsed either by scrolling down, or by either the “Casino Games” top menu or another menu with game categories (“featured slots”, “blackjack”, “table games”, etc.).
Overall, the design of Scores Casino mobile app, as well as desktop site is simplistic, dated and not really innovative or exciting. However, if looking at functionality, ease of use and availability of information, Scores Casino sure ticks all these boxes.
